Privacy
I wrote this so it can actually be understood. If something does not add up, email me and I will explain it: [email protected].
Who I am
I am Daniel Alfocea and this site is mine. I write a daily newsletter and do training and consulting on secure development, AI and MCP.
For anything to do with your data, the address is [email protected]. I answer it myself.
What I ask you for
If you sign up to the newsletter, I ask for your email address and nothing else. No name, no phone number, no company, no job title.
If you write to me, I keep whatever you chose to tell me in that email.
What I use it for
I use your address to send you the newsletter. That is the whole use.
I do not sell the list and I do not hand it to anyone, beyond the company I need in order to send the emails, which I name below. And I do not add you without your say-so: when you sign up you get an email asking you to confirm, and without that click you are not on the list.
Who else sees your data
- Acumbamail, a Spanish company, sends the newsletter. The list of addresses lives there.
- Cloudflare hosts this site, so it sees the requests you make to the server, including your IP address.
- Google Analytics and Hotjar measure visits. There is a separate section for this because it is worth reading.
Analytics: I want you to know this
This site loads Google Analytics and Hotjar the moment you arrive, without asking you. There is no cookie banner. I am telling you here because that seems more honest than burying it in a filler paragraph.
Google Analytics counts visits, where you came from and which pages you read. Hotjar goes further: it builds heatmaps and can record how you move around the page, what you click and how far you scroll. It does not record what you type into the form, but it does record the path you take.
If you would rather not, there are two ways out and both work: an ordinary content blocker (uBlock Origin and the like stop them) or your browser’s do-not-track mode. You do not need my permission and you do not need to tell me.
Cookies
The ones Google Analytics and Hotjar set, to count visits and sessions. I set none of my own: this site has no login, no basket, nothing that needs to remember you.
You can delete them from your browser whenever you like.
What you can ask me for
To unsubscribe: there is a link at the bottom of every email and it works on the first click. There is no “are you sure you want to leave?” page.
You can also ask me what I hold about you, ask me to correct it, or ask me to delete all of it. Write to [email protected] and I will do it. I will not ask you to justify why.
If you think I have mishandled your data and I do not put it right, you can complain to the Spanish Data Protection Agency.
How long I keep your address
For as long as you stay subscribed. If you unsubscribe, you come off the list; what remains is the record of the unsubscribe, which is precisely what stops anything reaching you again by mistake.
If I change this
I update it here and change the date. If the change is a big one, I say so in the newsletter rather than waiting for you to notice.

Have a good one, Daniel Alfocea
