OpenVAS to Report

Python 41 stars 2024

OpenVAS to Report is a set of tools that turns OpenVAS XML reports into executive reports that can actually be handed over.

OpenVAS is great for finding vulnerabilities, but its reports are awful.

Why I built it

A pentest needs two reports: a technical one for the system administrators and an executive one for whoever makes the decisions. OpenVAS only produces an XML, and it’s horrible to read.

What it does

It turns that XML into professional PDFs, executive reports with charts, an Excel with metrics, or JSON to plug into other tools.

It has 41 stars and security consultancies use it for their clients’ reports. Presenting results well matters as much as finding the vulnerabilities.

The audio on why AI turns dumb

I send one email a day. Everyone who signs up gets, right then, a ten minute audio on what almost nobody knows about ChatGPT and Claude.
